A late Art Deco platinum and rectangular cut diamond ring, circa 1938.
The central baguette cut (est. 1.37, H-I, SI2) and the carre cut and baguette cut diamonds in open double chevron shaped shoulder platinum mounts are surrounded by early modern brilliants and mixed single and brilliant cut diamonds. EDT 2.92 carats.
By the 1930s the flamboyant flapper had been replaced by a sophisticated feminine woman and jewellery had become bold and predominantly white. The linear baguette and carre cut diamonds were very much in fashion as now. The greater boldness of the ring presages the retro jewellery of the 1940s.
