A very desirable Belle Epoque diamond ring
A very desirable Belle Epoque diamond ring, formed as a dome of old cut diamonds mounted in platinum the centre old cut diamond (est. 1.60 ct, I-J, VS1) secured by asymmetrical leaves and bows, the dome continuing on into the shoulders with delicate pierced work embellished with fine millegrain and small old cut diamonds.
The Belle époque period from 1871-1914 was one of international wealth, of flourishing arts and rich lifestyles, luxury, beautiful town mansions and country homes complemented by beautiful fashions and jewellery The heyday of Downton Abbey is set in these times. Jewellery even when substantial was delicate and feminine to complement the delicate pastel coloured clothes. While the Art Deco period is admired as the first period of truly modern jewellery the Belle Epoque period produced some of the most beautiful jewellery in history. This jewellery is still relevant today and much admired.
