Antique handmade amethyst and gold hoop earrings featuring original owner’s initials
Antique handmade late Georgian – early Victorian amethyst and gold hoop earrings featuring original owner’s initials.
Each earring is individually crimp set with three oval faceted amethysts in oval box settings situated one below the other in the curved faces of the hoops and enhanced by granular gold beads in between the amethysts. At each end of the three amethysts a carved floral motif joins the rear curved section of each hoop and the hinged catches. The small loop at the top originated to attach the earrings to the wig if desired. A unique feature of the earrings is the intricately pierced and carved initial panel (F.M.S.) located within the central opening of the left and right hoop. If only we could discover whose initials these were and the story of her life.
