G H Palfrey, Melbourne - Art Deco Diamond Brooch – May 2010 –

The stunningly simple Art Deco diamond brooch carries the name plate of Palfrey of G H Palfrey, a Melbourne jeweller active 1897-1927. It is exciting to have a named Australian Art Deco brooch as most were not named. This one is eminently wearable today and features a large central diamond.

For us it is even more exciting as Palfrey was originally established at 317 Little Collins Street until 1922 and moved to Howey Place. History has repeated itself - the brooch has come home to Howey Place where James Alfredson is located.

Featured in magazine - Antiques & Art in Victoria April - August 2010.
